d3jake was born in California, US, later moved to Minnesota and then after that moved again, but within the state to his current place of residence. His father was shown to have an aptitude in electronics when he enlisted in the military, which snowballed him into liking computers. As a child d3jake liked the idea of programming and was on his way to learning BASIC.
[edit] Finding ODF
d3jake played Descent3 and loved it. When King_Lo approached him about joining a group that was going to create a new Descent game he was delighted. At the time it had been eight years since the last Descent game had been published (Descent3) and there was no sequel in sight.

This is a project that he is working on to improve his C++ skills before tackling a full 3D 6DoF game. This project was originally a way to test the SDL library. After a while it was decided to use the game as a testbed for other parts of the main project of the ODF (to write a new Descent game from scratch). Examples would be the SDL library(www.libsdl.org) for it's joystick input code, and it's audio code. It was later decided that it could also be used to test the netcode of libodf[2] in a 2d environment.

but my mind really started cracking out ideas and thinking about the problem right before I had to go to my class, in class I couldn't think about it for longer than a few minutes. On the ride home it would have been rude to be reading coding on paper and ignoring the gal that offers to drive me home, I get home and end up talking to my syster for ~30 minutes further distracting me...
