[edit] FAQ About the ODF Wiki

[edit] What is meant by article, ODF Wiki and homepage?

An article is a page of this wiki. This article here is named FAQ, for instance. The ODF Wiki is the wiki of the ODF, see below. The homepage, in contrast, is the ODF's real homepage - click here to get there.

[edit] What is the ODF Wiki?

You can read about it in the article by clicking on this link here.

[edit] How can I find an article?

On the left, as in Wikipedia, there is a text field that allows you to search for an article. However, for the case that you do not know what to look for exactly, read the FAQ about What are categories?

[edit] What are categories?

The ODF Wiki contains lots of articles, of whose most are categorized. This means, that, for example all articles about projects are in the category Projects. Other examples for categories are ODF or File Formats.

The most important category, however, is Contents. It is an a site categorizing all top level categories (that could not be categorized else). Thus, you can navigate to almost every article on our wiki from there. The Contents category is linked on our main page.

[edit] Where are all the Projects?

There are 4 possibilities to get an overview.

  • The largest overview is probably outside our wiki, on the Projects&Downloads page of our homepage. You should use this, since it contains the most information - even links to the corresponding wiki articles.
  • The wiki has a category for all our projects. However, since not all projects have an article written, you will only find projects with articles there.
  • Developers can find further, minor important or unfinished projects on our bazaar projects overview on the SourceForge site. This is only suggested for insiders, though.

[edit] How do I download software from the corresponding wiki page?

It is easy! You will see some information in the so called Infobox, a table on the top right of the project's article. Look for the entry Project Page and click on the link there. On the linked page, you will probably find the latest sources from our repository or an official release.
