- MD2211 (Programmer)
- Kreator (Programmer, MAC-Port)
- Kip (Co-Programmer)
- Sniper (BETA-Tester, German localisation, HiRes packages)
[edit] The Project
DXX-Rebirth consists of two seperated programs:
- D1X-Rebirth
- D2X-Rebirth
Both programs are based on the successful Source Ports D1X and D2X (Descent 1/2 eXtended). Since development at the old games has stopped, the DXX-Rebirth team took the most recent sources and changed it for their own purposes.
The aim of the project is to create a Descent game that runs on multiple systems and uses new technology, but still keeps the used original atmosphere. DXX-Rebirth uses OpenGL and runs on Linux, MacOS and Windows.
[edit] How to get it?
You need the original gameplay data (from your CD - see website how to get one) and the newest sources from the website.
[edit] Why is it called "Rebirth"?
On the project website, Zico, lead programmer and project maintainer of DXX Rebirth, says:
- "The Sourcecode Parallax released and the great work, that the D1X and D2X projects have done so far provide a great platform to bring Descent to the new millennium. That's why it's called Rebirth! You get the idea?"
